Vintage 1970s Zandra Rhodes Hand-Painted "Shell" Dress

Mary McFadden

A stunning example of Zandra Rhodes's early 1970s work, from the 1972-73 "shell collection". This rare and special dress would be a beautiful dress for a beach wedding.  Hand-painted abstract squiggles and lines that resemble sea elements with pearlized seashells attachments.  Open fluttery sleeves.  Slight empire waist (elasticized).  Ruffles and bows around the waist.  Full, maxi skirt.  Slips on over the head.

The original tag is missing but it still has its original hand-painted Zandra Rhodes hanger.  We suspect this dress was custom made for it's original owner.

DETAILS:
Label: missing (but obviously Zandra Rhodes)
