A stunning traditional Bethlehem jacket (taqsireh) - part of a Palestinian bridal trousseau! Soft black velvet with intricate gold brocade embroidery with hints of pink and blue. The jacket is cropped with short sleeves and an open front. It is fully lined. It is of exceptional quality!
There is an almost identical jacket in the British Museum.
Best fits: XS/S (see measurements)
Circa: possibly 1940s, or as early as the 1930s or as late as the 1950s (since the style of these traditional jackets has not changed since at least the late 1800s, this is very difficult to date.)
Condition: Overall excellent. The jacket appears little worn, if at all.
Bust: up to 35" (but is open front)
Sleeve length: 7"
