Vintage 1970s Yuki Printed Caftan

We love finding this rare UK label known for masterful draping.  This caftan has a lovely white bamboo print on a sheer grey chiffon jersey.  Heavily draped down the center with full sleeves creating a cocoon effect.  Lined except for sleeves.  Zips up the back.

The Yuki label was created and designed by Gnyuki Torimaru.  He studied architecture in Japan before working as a textile engineer and settling in the UK in the 1960s.  He launched his own collection in 1972, and made his name in draped jersey dresses inspired by monastic styles. His trademark cut was panels cut in a full circle and then draped, giving maximum fullness with minimal or no seams.
