This is such a classic Edwardian hat! Black beaver fur. The wide brim is oval shaped with the sides being wider than the front and back. A long black ostrich plum feather circles the top with one end that probably originally went up the side, but now falls to the back. Lined interior.
Label: Johnson Hat Shop; Topeka Kansas
Best fits: Average head size (see measurements; was originally to be worn atop a large upsweep of hair)
Circa: 1910s / Edwardian
Condition: Overall very good (especially considering the age). There is a bit of thinning to the beaver fur on the corners. It looks like one section of plum is missing in the back and, as mentioned above, it looks as though one end of the feather may have originally stood straighter. The entire plum could easily be removed if you desire to redo it. Even considering these minor cosmetic issues, the hat is completely wearable as is.
Interior circumference: 22"
Total width: 16"
